Delos Delta worked with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) to develop and deliver a Smart Community Blueprint highlighting the process and benefits of smart places, suburbs and developments.
The Blueprint aims to:
- Highlight the opportunities to embed smart technology in new developments
- Empower other governments and private developers to create new, smarter suburbs, towns and cities
“The success of Googong is due in large part to our shared focus on sustainability from the very beginning. When you address long term problems with long term solutions, you reap the benefits for generations to come.” said Mayor of Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, Cr Tim Overall.
This Blueprint was built around a vision for “a town that delivers enhanced liveability, connectivity, safety and environmental outcomes for its community, built on a foundation of digital technology, data and innovation”. This vision is driven by four key principles:
- Connected Community
Delos Delta assisted in the design process which involved developing community priorities that were created to parallel the four key principles, these include:
- Build Smart Foundations
- Embed Smart Technologies
- Protect Privacy and Security
- Be Data Driven
- Establish Interoperability & Connectivity
- Multi-Use Infrastructure
- Seek Expert Advice
This Blueprint was adopted by Council in September 2020.
The Googong Smart Community Project, including this Blueprint, was highly commended at the MAV Technology Awards for Excellence and finalists for the Smart Cities Week ANZ Future of Place Award in 2021.
