Tamworth Regional Council
Communications Strategy
Delos Delta worked with Tamworth Regional Council at the end of last year to deliver a comprehensive Communications Strategy. Delos Delta facilitated this Strategy by leveraging best practise stakeholder engagement to communicate trust and transparency between Council and the community.
The vision of the Strategy is to communicate successfully as an organisation, creating a strong two-way dialogue which ensures the community is informed and involved in decision making and the Council is committed to being transparent, inclusive, and accessible. Through comprehensive stakeholder engagement, Delos Delta found that the community wanted Council’s communications to remain consistent and personal, while also focusing on new channels of engagement such as Instagram or Snapchat.
Another one of the Delos Delta stakeholder engagement areas involved Council’s communication with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in the community which makes up over 10% of the Region’s population. This engagement found a clear desire for Council to be increasingly inclusive of the region’s Indigenous population in its communications.
Delos Delta used these findings along with strategic and contextual documents, and research of local, national, and global trends bearing on Tamworth to design the Strategy.
Five principles were developed to align and inform the future communications and engagement of the Council:
- Relevant
- Open & Transparent
- Responsive
- Inclusive & Accessible
- Respectful
This Strategy is also supported by the Blueprint 100 Community Plan, with communications being a valuable part of promoting sustainable growth for the current and future residents of the Tamworth Region.
This Strategy was adopted by Council on Tuesday 13 December 2022 and implementation will commence in 2023.
