In 2021, Delos Delta supported the City of Wanneroo (City) to deliver a comprehensive community engagement program to update its Strategic Community Plan.

Delos Delta worked with the City to develop an Engagement Plan that aligned with best practice Engagement Institute approaches and ensured WA Government legislated engagement requirements were met and exceeded. Engagement aimed to gather key insights on community values, aspirations and priorities, ensuring the SCP is informed by a wide range of perspectives.

Key to this process was:

1. Understanding the context of the City, its community and key stakeholders
2. Mapping stakeholders across geographic, interest, and priority areas
3. Identifying communications channels, mechanisms and messages to encourage engagement
4. Designing a diverse range of engagement mechanisms including
   • Stakeholder-specific surveys
   • Quick-poll pop-ups
   • In-person facilitated workshops in locations across the Wards
   • Digital workshops
5. Preparing engaging and easy to understand engagement material
6. Facilitating interactive and active workshops and conversations
7. Ongoing evaluation and adjustment of engagement materials and approaches to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Stakeholders included Elected Members, Council executives and staff as well as community members across the Wards and through existing advisory groups.

Delos Delta brought together the insights of this engagement into a detailed engagement report highlighting the LGA and place-based themes and insights.

The Strategic Community Plan engagement approach  provided the City with critical insights to inform the long-term strategic vision, including the priorities, actions and activities that will guide Council and the communityinto the future.

This engagement process was also linked to Delos Delta’s delivery of the City of Wanneroo’s Smart City Strategy and Community Development Plan, enabling broad and diverse insights across all three projects.

Delos Delta also supported the City with  community engagement to update the SCP in 2025, informing the development of a new Council Plan. Please find more information here.
