Economic Development Strategy 2021 – 2025
In November 2021, Federation Council adopted the region’s first Economic Development Strategy for 2021 – 2025. Delos Delta was pleased to have supported Council in the creation of the Strategy which involved extensive engagement and collaboration with the Federation community.
The Strategy aims to strengthen local business, empower the community, leverage key industries, and enhance economic diversity and resilience. The Strategy identified ten key economic development opportunities:
- Growing the population
- Creating a place that fosters the development of young people
- Generating diverse opportunities for education and employment
- Establishing robust digital infrastructure
- Leveraging tourism partnerships to support a vibrant visitor economy
- Creating a connected business economy
- Utilising the public and open spaces
- Enhancing Council capacity and capability to support local economic development
- Maintaining strong foundations in key/traditional industries
- Commitment to renewable and green energy
These opportunities are guided by seven strategic themes:
- Strengthening local business;
- Empowering our community;
- Leveraging key industries;
- Enhancing economic diversity and resilience;
- Boosting the visitor economy;
- Attracting investment; and
- Increasing skills and economic capacity.
