Dubbo Regional Council
Smart Region Strategy
The Dubbo Smart Region Strategy, released in September 2022, was developed with Delos Delta in collaboration with Dubbo Regional Council, the community, and local stakeholders. The Strategy brings together NSW Government led initiatives and guides, including the Smart Places Program and the Smart Council Strategy to assist in identifying the needs and priorities of the broader community.
“We want to deliver more efficient and effective services that use technology and data to better understand and serve the Dubbo community. Technology will also help us tackle future challenges and grab hold of new opportunities in the digital age.” – Dubbo Regional Council Director Development and Environment, Stephen Wallace.
‘For the community, by the community’ was an important focus when developing the Strategy for Dubbo Regional Council. Key insights from the community engagement included:
- Ensure safety and security
- Be community focused
- Be sustainable
- Enhance connectivity
- Be proactive
Based on the engagement sessions and wider research of trends impacting the Region, a list of 7 objectives for the Strategy were identified. These were given priority action areas and suggested implementation in Council’s upcoming Annual Action Plan. The 7 key objectives were:
- Equipped & Connected Community
- Vibrant & Liveable Spaces
- Innovation & Prosperous Economy
- Integrated & Efficient Mobility
- Resilient & Sustainable Environment
- Optimised Asset & Infrastructure Management
- Smart Prepared Council
